Ugh, I am seriously embarrassed by that horrible emo post from yesterday.  Can we all just pretend it never happened?  Awesome.

Today is a perfectionary day wrt weather.  Lower 60s, overcast, drizzly.  It's already October in my heart, you guys!  To that end, I'm starting to think of my Halloween plans.  Isn't Halloween the best?  I need to secure permission to wear a witch's hat or something similar at work that day, since I'll be working.  (Sadfaces forever.)  I don't know if my little sister is going to be trick-or-treating this year; I've quite enjoyed driving her and her friends around the last few years.  I just ferry them from one place to the next, chill in my car with a scary book, and collect candy tolls.  Unbeatable.

I'm thinking of setting up a Halloween/Autumn music sharing post in a week or so.  There's always a ton of them around for Christmas music, but I've never seen one for Halloween, and I have a surprisingly large amount of Halloween music.  As one does.

One of the things I did go ahead and buy this weekend, because it's depressing to be on vacation and have zero souvenirs whatsoever, is a cast iron skillet.  I've always wanted one, and after thinking about it, I decided to go for it.  The first thing I am going to make is pineapple upside down cake, probably tomorrow since I work till 9 tonight - it should be prodigious.

I've been trying to get some landcomm challenges out of the way.  I made this Luther wallpaper yesterday for a gift-giving challenge, and I am very proud of it.  (Why am I only able to make good graphics for gifts and non-voting challenges?  Seriously.)  I'm...not sure if I'm going to be able to get to the scifiland Big Bang, though.  I should have been working it all along, but somehow, out of nowhere, I didn't.  And it's due the same day as the het_bigbang, and I'll be cutting it close just to get that done.  (Where has all the tiiiiiime gone?!)  Anyway, you'd think then that I'd be working really hard on those, but no, I spent like two hours doing online jigsaw puzzles yesterday.  Productive uses of free time FTW!

We've got cool, rainy weather here, too. YAY! I am so ready for fall.
Shannonkungfuwaynewho on September 14th, 2011 06:28 pm (UTC)
Fall is my absolute favorite. I'm so looking forward to it, I can't even.

What emo post? *blinks*

Hee, it's never Halloween until I hear The Monster Mash. WHAT SHOULD I BE FOR HALLOWEEN, SHANNON? I always wait until the last moment and half-ass it, and maybe I could avoid that this year.

That's a gorgeous wallpaper!

Ugh, LJ, I was not done typing. I don't know how you'd go as a Cylon, tho. I'm not the best person for costume advice; I always bought clothes from Goodwill, tore them up and covered them with mud and fake blood, and went as a zombie.

(Except for the year I went as Chaplin. That was epic. You just need a cane, a bowler hat, and a moustache! And a suit, obvs.)

*gigglesnort* I suppose tin cans and tinfoil.... Sounds uncomfortable, though. I like the Chaplin idea, that's cool. And the pictures of your sister going as Old Greg were pretty epic.

Old Greg! That was a good one, too. Your hair is curly enough, you could go as Moss from The IT Crowd.

I remember when you were all "this het bigbang thing will be a snap. I have so much time! I can totally do that by the end of September!" And then all of a sudden it was like... Ohai, September.

Speaking of fall - I had my very first pumpkin spice latte of the season last weekend! And it made me think of you and wonder how your vacay was going whilst I traversed the mall for four hours on a mission to buy pants.

Good luck with the cake! It sounds yummy :D :D

I knoooooooow. This is what happens when you get stuck and don't write for a month, though.

At least I know I'll be okay as far as word count goes; I'm at 34k right now. It's just actually getting to the end of the story, LOL.

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE! I actually haven't had one yet. I haven't had a chance to sit down at Starbucks, to ~savor and ~enjoy it. Maybe this weekend.

I love Halloween music! Go for it! I have a kids' mix I made for uh, my kids. It had classics like Monster Mash and additions like Terror Time from Scooby Doo.

I had pumpkin soup for lunch today. Something is definitely in the air!

I bought pumpkin ravioli today! Definitely in the air.

I think I will sit down this weekend and go through my iTunes and find all my Halloween/Fall/Scary/Squint-and-You-Can-See-It songs.

So jealous of your weather.

Oooh, Halloween music! Do want! :D

Dude jigsaw puzzles are awesome. And I'm so impressed that you're still on track to finish the het big bang. I crashed and burned quite a while ago lol.

It was sprinkling as I was leaving Walmart and I was still doing the Leo stroll. So happy.

Then I will definitely do a H'ween music post! Yay!

Ugh, jigsaw puzzles. They are my new time-sucking nemesis. I just upload random screencaps and do them, IDEK why.

At this point, I think I'll get done, I just don't know how much time I'll have to edit. We'll see how it goes.

Hope you're feeling better!

And yay for the het bigbang! Looking forward to reading moar!!

Thanks! I don't know that I'm going to get the last act done in time to send off to you, but I would like to send the rewritten middle chapters, if you don't mind.
ghanima sun: b5ghanimasun on September 17th, 2011 03:17 am (UTC)
I don't mind a bit, I want to read more of it! And I'll be much quicker about it this time!

Lovely weather! We have some sort of summer revival, not too warm though, it's sunny but tempertaures that don't melt you. Quite nice, but I can't wait for some drizzle rain and OMG winter and snow (I want white christmas like last year, it was epic!).

Oh Halloween...I'm not much of a costume person, but I loved the parade in NY 2 years ago. We don't really celebrate it here. But I'm curious what kind of Halloween music you have.

What are you doing for the het-bigbang?
Shannonkungfuwaynewho on September 16th, 2011 03:25 pm (UTC)
I'm doing Babylon 5 John/Delenn for the het bigbang. My usual. So I fully expect like three people to read it, LOL.

I haven't done a costume for Halloween in a long time, probably since high school. I like the idea of it, I just...don't. But I love helping other people with their costumes!
Martinela_loony on September 16th, 2011 05:35 pm (UTC)
I don't know Babylon 5 I)

I bought a shirt in New York that says 'This is my costume'. It's perfect for me, I love looking at what others come up with but I can't put so much energy into one for me.
