Good season premieres = ♥

Awesome picspam! I like the effect you used for Scorpy! And how pretty everyone else is in the pictures you picked :)

Thank you! I just duplicated and set half the layers to lighten with Scorpius; I finally figured out how everyone was doing that effect on tumblr, LOL. I'll likely run it into the ground before I'm sick of it.

I didn't know that's how to do that. Thanks. I've spent a lot of time trying to reproduce some graphicy stuff I've seen on tumblr...with varying results!

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff I just can't recreate. It can be really frustrating. This is like the one thing that I was able to figure out, and that was just trial and error.

You made Farscape graphics! Yay!

Lovely choice of caps, and I like the layout as well. It really highlights the emotions of the episode.

Thanks! I like doing picspams now and then and being a little freer with layout; I tend towards everything in a row, so I'm trying to try new things. Or something.

I just watched "Crackers Don't Matter," and I'd heard about it as being a good episode, but I was disappointed. :( John in his get-up at the end was pretty good, though.

I still have trouble with spacing everything just in a row in picspams, so I'm impressed at your mixing it up!

Did you really dislike "Crackers Don't Matter" or did it just not live up to the hype to you?
Shannon: farscape aerynkungfuwaynewho on September 28th, 2011 01:36 am (UTC)
The only way I can get picspams to work in precise rows is to use the calculator, and plan it out ahead of time on a piece of paper.

You know, it wasn't so much that I really disliked it, as I was disappointed that the male characters, somehow infected with distrust and suspicion, immediately turned to calling the female characters bitches, sluts, skanks, etc. I don't know how I'm supposed to interpret that, and I'd like to not think that Crichton doesn't secretly think of Aeryn as "that Peacekeeper bitch" when she frustrates him but that he manages to keep it under wraps the rest of the time. I didn't hear the female characters throwing around similar insults towards the guys, so it was just disappointing that as soon as they got the chance, the writers went to gendered insults. I've liked how egalitarian this universe is.

It's not the biggest of deals, and I watched the next episode tonight, but yeah. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Ok, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has to use a calculator and plan out picspams like that.

You make a good point about that episode of Farscape, I don't think I fully picked up on that before. I usually think D'argo is rather sexist, at least in some ways, so I don't think it's surprising coming from him. I sort of imagine some of what they said isn't necessarily what they generally think about the other people, or possibly just something they've thought once or twice in their darkest thoughts and feel bad about it, but the evil light made it all come out whether or not they really believed it. Though of course it's likely John has some sexism ingrained in him, as we all do, because he wasn't raised in an egalitarian world, but yeah it is really disappointing whenever he uses a gendered insult like that. That scene with him and Chiana is especially chilling, and that might have been influenced by him hallucinating (or whatever that was) Scorpius possibly?

Okay, I didn't meant to rant/run-on sentence at you so long there, sorry!
Shannon: farscape aerynkungfuwaynewho on September 28th, 2011 05:47 pm (UTC)
I can buy that John has a lot of repressed sexism just from growing up in this world today, and that all of the evil suspicion light stuff (LOL) brought it to the forefront. I don't think it's OOC, just a little disappointing. And yeah, that scene with him and Chiana was really kind of creepy - well-played, definitely, but toeing the line as far as "stop Crichton I don't want to hate you."

I don't really remember D'argo being too bad on that front, but Rygel threw out a couple "bitches," which really surprised me. I don't know why, since he's a foul little thing, but it was sort of out of the blue for me.

Don't apologize! It's nice to talk to someone about it - it's hard watching a show that's been off the air for a long time, since most fannish spaces are going to be chuck-full of spoilers, so it's really great to have someone to go on and on about episodes that make me think, or that thing where you just HAVE to say something. I love reading your thoughts!

Like I said, I watched "The Way We Weren't," which was great. So sad to see how Aeryn and Pilot were affected by what had happened; I've come to realize that Pilot is just about one of my favorite characters. I don't even think most of the time of him being a puppet at all. I just felt so BAD for him. And I like that Aeryn wasn't super-noble back then, or like "not really" a Peacekeeper. She killed, she followed orders, she backstabbed and betrayed to further her own career - really adds a lot of layers. I wasn't sure what was going on in the last scene; do you think John was trying to get her to say that she loves him?
ghanima sun: farscape - pilotghanimasun on September 29th, 2011 02:29 am (UTC)
Yeah it's definitely disappointing to see the characters delve into territory that you really don't want to dislike them for like that.
And I actually thought Rygel called Zhaan 'bitch' in season one too, but I may be making that up completely.

I will definitely talk Farscape with you any time! So make tons of posts about it and I will comment on all ;)

'The Way We Weren't' is a gorgeous episode I think. I love all the Aeryn and Pilot stuff in it. I was glad too that they didn't cop out and make Aeryn some kind of randomly kind and friendly PK, but really just a regular PK who shot and imprisoned people like she was raised. I always get teary whenever she talks to Pilot at the end and she gets to comfort him.

I sort of more interpreted John at the end trying to just get through to Aeryn at all, and to have her admit she actually loved someone. I don't think he thinks she loves him yet, but that's just my interpretation.

Also that lovely icon you're using was from that episode I think (you need more Farscape icons! :D )
