Fic: Halloween on Babylon 5

Title: Halloween on Babylon 5
Specs:  Babylon 5, John/Delenn, 500 words
Rating: G
Summary: Just a fluffy little drabble.

Delenn had experienced every Earth holiday three times already before John Sheridan ever came aboard Babylon 5, but this year, it was as though she were seeing them all with fresh eyes. The new Captain had such a boyish enthusiasm, and if they were not awash in some difficult crisis, he would take the time out of his busy schedule - carve it out, if necessary - to celebrate the Humans' rather outlandish rituals.

"Trick or treat!" he announced as she opened her door. His uniform was ripped and torn, with dark stains here and there. There was a great bloody gash above his eye, and that was what she saw, not the silly smile on his lips. Delenn felt her heart leap to her throat.

"What happened to you? Captain, are you hurt?" Now she could see that he was grinning, though it only made her more confused, not less.

"This is my costume. Halloween? I'm a dead Captain. A ghoul." Delenn shuddered; it was horribly macabre.

"I thought only children dressed up. To ward off evil?" She led him to her sofa, wondering only at the last minute if the make-up and fake liquid he had used to mimic blood might still be wet, and if any of it might ruin her furniture.

"Halloween is the perfect time for all adults to remember what it is to be young at heart," he said with a flourish. "So. Trick or treat?" Most of the children who participated in the festivities - and not all of them were Human - tended to stick to Red Sector. Still, Delenn had remembered to set aside a few treats, just in case. She fetched the platter and offered it to John. He wrinkled his nose but took one of the small cakes, nibbling at the edge. "Delenn, what is this?"

"It's a glomo cake. They are considered appropriate treats for children."

There was something in his eye then that she had seen only a few times before, and just as it had done on each previous occasion, it sent a slight shiver through her body. "Ambassador Delenn, nothing about Halloween is supposed to be appropriate." He stood, then extended a hand. "Come on. Let's go have some fun."

Delenn paused for only a moment, then took his hand.
