Pimping and I haven't even been accepted yet.

So this sounds like fun!  I just applied.  Any other writers want to come play?  (ETA: I'm on Team Poetry, btw!)

(Though Christ, I need another landcomm like I need a hole in the head.)

How does a landcomm work?

The members are sorted into teams - three for this landcomm. Challenges are posted, usually one or two a week. Challenges can be participation only or writing, usually a mix skewed more toward participation. Writing challenges for other landcomms have been things like, "Write a drabble based on the prompt dawn," or "Write three poems in this format," or "Write a crossover." I would imagine since the sole focus of this comm is writing, the challenges might be longer/more involved. (In all my other landcomms, writing challenges seem to be met with hisses, cries and moans.)

You earn points for your team. They're all just for fun, obviously. Whichever team with the most points at the end of the phase (usually three months) "wins." Plus, there will be team challenges and social events and games and things like that.

So is the writing fandom-related or original? And if fandom-related, any particular fandom?

It looks like you can write original fic or fanfic, and the fanfic could be for anything - TV, movies, books. This is its first round coming up, but it looks as though they're trying to be as inclusive to all types of writing as possible. Poetry, prose, plays, screenplays - the mods have said they're doing it all. (Of course, you can always choose to skip a challenge if you really don't like it at all.)
